When entering the fourth or fifth decade, many people face more and more difficulties in their lives, women especially. Stressful living style, children, office work, computers, radiation, dust, menopause … The brain simply has no time to rest or to sleep well. So you need a way to recharge and get some energy – walking will make you ageless with only a little effort!
Since the old age, people walk, and it’s the easiest and the most beneficial thing you can do to stay active. There are many benefits for you – health, social, mental, focus and productivity… It can also be used as an active relaxation.
Women simply don’t walk. Walking requires only half an hour of your time, forty-five minutes, one hour… but it may rejuvenate you! Being active is not just being a working mom, activity is constant movement.
Walking – health influence
Walking is one of the best activities for strengthening your heart. A very simple 30-minute-walk every day reduces the risk of high blood pressure. Walking also reduces the risk of diabetes type-2 above 50%! So start walking! If you want to go the grocery store – walk! If you want to go to your work, take off two stations of the bus earlier and walk… walking lengthens your life and prevents your health!
Walking – mental benefits
You will feel more energetic and stronger. It affects positively your well-being and reduces the stress level. Don’t count the bad influence or nervousness gathered during the day, just walk!
You could also take your children with you to a light walking session, this is a real enjoyment for you all. Especially in the park, it relaxes your brain and rejuvenates brain cells! Start walking and face a better mood!
Walking – social aspect
Do you really need to type with your friends over a cell phone or social networking website? Can a cell phone or a PC replace personal connections? Is it really a better feeling to type than to talk person to person?
Maybe not always. Call your friends on a walking session in the park or down the forest. Talk to them – you do have plenty of time during a session. There is a double effect on your positive mood – chatting with your friends and walking. Is there anything better than this, surrounded by green and other fresh colors, on a clean air?
Walking – proper distance
You might probably wonder how much you should walk for the best results. The truth is – you don’t need to aim for ten kilometers and burn yourself. Just a relaxation walk with your children, dog, friends … anything longer than 20 minutes is a touchdown! Two kilometers or more per day, this is awesome. Meantime, don’t use your car for going to the grocery store. Walk upstairs, if you live high in the building, you don’t need an elevator! You may cover this distance by a slight change of your habits! Do it now!
Walking – focus and productivity
It affects positively on work productivity. In Japan, it is an obligation to walk or train on every break during the work – 15 minutes is a must, and two breaks are an obligation during every work shift. You may easily find on Internet some videos with such sessions. The most productive country in the world uses walking to motivate the workers!
You can do it, too: walk whenever you have the opportunity to take some fresh air! By yourself or with a friend – and we’re not (yet) talking here about hiking in the forest, but in a city or a village, fitted into your daily schedule. Easy to do and to manage.
Women who spend half an hour per day walking in the park or forest can focus even twice more on the work task than the women who didn’t get out of the office or home. Any type of walking increases focus on the work task, a simple walking session charges your brain with positive energy!
And if you still need to be convinced, here’s the story of one of our readers:
‘I am a proud mother of two daughters, both playing volleyball. I am lucky to work near the forest. My job is a financial accounting. We have one break at work, lasting a half-an-hour. I go to the forest on a trim stage, take some food with me and then I walk with my colleague – that is about 2.5 miles. We chat and have fun while walking. Maybe that’s the reason why, when I return to work, I feel myself more productive. When I go home from work, I get off a station earlier and walk around seven minutes. I live on the 6th floor, and I always walk upstairs. It’s easy now, and the results are visible.’
What are you waiting for? Go for a walk! Or you could also exercise the easy way.
