We live in a very fast paced world. That’s why you have to deal with all sorts of situations and people on a daily basis. Whether you’re a student, a parent, a boss or employee or none above – life can be very stressful. Everybody has ageless struggles of their own. Moreover, when people tell that they have problems because of being under constant pressure, they describe the impact of everyday stressful situations on their physical condition.
Problems at work, bad relationships, lack of understanding of violence and poor communication with your partner, then worries about children, juggling on a daily and monthly basis to settle all financial obligations … all that ageless struggle regularly disturbs the psycho-physical balance of each of us. The impact of these situations is currently detrimental to our functioning. It can lead to anxiety, low mood, chronic fatigue, insomnia, headaches, high blood pressure, or a general decline of immunity.
Changing Your Perspective
Some situations might seem negative in themselves and you might believe that you can not overcome them – well, you are wrong. The most important thing is to change the way you experience them. It’s wrong to say that stressful situations directly affect your negative reaction. Think again.
For instance, instead of being angry because a colleague did something that you don’t like, try something different. Consider the possibility that he does not know what the problem is because he is not able to read your mind. The moment you are in a good mood, just say to him anything you do not like on that situation, and in which direction would you like to change his behavior. Then try to get around it all arranged.
Sometimes this approach might seem difficult – still, don’t hesitate and try harder. It’s important to accept that there are people whose behavior we do not like and that the anger we feel about it is absolutely useless. It is important to move the focus from thinking about how such a person is impossible – to thinking about how different persons we are and the things that relax you.
Setting Realistic Expectations
It’s time to reduce the high requirements that you have set for yourself. When they are too high and unrealistic, that can be a source of chronic stress. For instance, aren’t you stressed by your too many tasks of the day? Working at two or three projects at work, taking children to school and different places, preparing meals, doing housework, exercising, helping your senior parents and the like… Some lists can be really long.
No, there are tasks of the day that you cannot reduce, that’s true. However, by reducing your own expectations and standards of perfection, you will fell less stress. What can be done without perfection – still being useful and correct? In the long run, that simple shift will give you a much greater benefit than currently estimated losses.
It is important to prioritize, all the experts do that – so make it in your personal life, too. Sometimes you might think it’s impossible to give up any of your task, and such an idea would have catastrophic consequences for you and others. Is it really so? Are you really sure that the Earth will cease its rotation because of your actions?
And what about little things that add and count – until you can’t make them anymore. You want everything to be perfect, so you are forced to get involved. It takes time and effort, and your resources are not unlimited …. Do you know the feeling?
