Why are you worrying about past or future? Everybody is worrying sometimes, it’s in our genes, but some people are worrying too much. Are you one of them?
Are you an addict? And I’m not talking about alcohol, gambling or hard drugs here. No, I’m talking about being addicted to worrying about past or future. Worrying endlessly about choices you made in the past or what might go wrong in the future.
Just as alcohol, gambling and drug addiction can destroy lives, worry too can be toxic, seeping into our very souls, causing profound suffering to its victims.
Worrying about everything always can feel as normal as breathing – it’s what you’ve always done. It’s hard to even imagine what a worry free life would look like. The thing is the worry monster is permanently hungry – however much fear and anxiety you feed it, it’s never ever satisfied. That’s why you should stop worrying about your past or future you can’t influence.
Worry is consuming you, it’s taking over. Your life is leaking away, drop by precious drop. Worry casts long shadows, holding you back from leading a full, joyful life. Let’s see how to stop doing it.
Being your own guardian angel means embracing life in all its glory. And protecting yourself from negativity, including extreme worry.
It means avoiding other extreme worriers because like an infectious disease, worry is highly contagious.
It means wishing yourself well on life’s journey, freeing yourself from worry. And allowing yourself to lead a beautiful, fulfilling life.
If you fill your heart and mind with worry, you’re throwing stones at your soul.
When you get stuck in the past, going over and over things you should or shouldn’t have done you’re throwing stones at your soul.
If you watch violent TV shows night after night, you’re throwing stones at your soul because you’ll increase the burden of anxiety you’re carrying around with you.
When you spend every waking moment worrying about all the things which could go wrong in the future, you’re throwing stones at your soul.
Stop. Worry creates darkness, so drop it now and light up your existence with a vision of the great picture of your life.
Be kind to yourself, replace worry with confidence, and fear with hope.
People who worry endlessly generally have deeply negative beliefs about themselves and their lives. They think everything will go wrong because they don’t deserve any better … they’re worthless.
Instead of worry controlling you, you can learn to control it. Catch those ‘what if’ thoughts (‘what if the bus crashes’, ‘my partner gets cancer’?). You can change the record – tell yourself things will go well. Remember too all the times when life has worked out just fine for you.
Be mindful. Cultivate awareness of negative thought patterns, beliefs you have about yourself and your life.
Stop worrying about your past or future: unblock your life
Worrying is useless; it doesn’t actually change anything; the past has already happened! And worrying about the future doesn’t stop bad things from happening.
In fact, worry is like wading through thick mud or battling against a hurricane. Worry blocks, worry paralyses, worry shrinks your life, worry eats away at your soul.
Stop worrying, start living, reach up and look at the great picture of life.
